It’s school holidays for two long months so we took a trip to Ayutthaya to spend some time in the old capital of Thailand. First we flew to Bangkok on Air Asia and stayed there for a night and just to relive our youth took the kids to wander around Khao San Road. It’s colorful and noisy and still the same as it was years ago but with a few more flash hotels here and there.
The next day we took a train for about 2 hours to the old city. Kingston had seen the train trip on You Tube and was asking to go for a long time so we based the trip around his dream of the train trip.
We stayed at a lovely and charming local place in the rice fields called Pludyaya Resort & Spa for the first night and the staff were so super nice and friendly. It was actually shocking as well as very nice when the manager offered to drop us off for free to the local temple up the road. Just get used to Phuket where a tuk tuk won’t move a meter for less than 200 baht. There was a great coffee shop connected to the resort and we watched the farmer move his buffalo around the fields and chilled by the swimming pool after temple exploring.
On Facebook I posted more photos of the whole trip. Here are some favorite temple shots and if you like temples you have to go there because there are endless ones to visit. It would take weeks to see them all ~ photography by Gina.
