I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while to thank Michelle and the staff from Amity and also to share my wonderful Phuket detox experience.
I did my first detox before Kingston was born. Someone told me you could increase your chances of getting pregnant if you did a detox first. It worked, shockingly well, because I couldn’t believe I was pregnant just a month after we started trying. And after that I was convinced of the many benefits of detox including strengthened immune system, weight loss, preventing and curing illnesses, disease and ailments, improved circulation, better skin and balancing mind, body and spirit. There are endless other benefits. Who doesn’t need help with some of these things?
That first Phuket detox was almost a decade ago and I’ve done a detox with Michelle every few years ever since. She owns a detox and wellness centre called Amity in Sai Yuan in the peaceful south of Phuket. The staff there are warm, kind and friendly and very knowledgable in all areas of detox, fasting and healing. A packed schedule of activities keep you busy all day with beach walks, sauna, massage, yoga lessons, classes on interesting subjects like reiki and kicking the sugar habit and meditation. Guests gather around the swimming pool to swap personal stories of how their Phuket detox is going while sipping coconuts together.
At the beginning I said it was a wonderful experience. It also is very hard at times. You go through a stage of feeling blah and down, there are moments you wish you didn’t sign up at all, it’s hard work. But totally worth it and made easier with the staff who understand how you feel. Most of the staff have also done detox before.
I did a photo shoot with Michelle and she has found her calling by helping people improve their health, wellness and quality of life. A very joyful and inspiring person who I’m so happy to know. Thanks always Michelle ~ photography by Gina, hair & make-up by Lisa Allen.
